I wouldn't be surprised one day to hear that they are sitting outside people's back doors and begging for food.Steve Willsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02098584432333519732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629602865933201771.post-39186800072327766062011-04-21T20:33:32.993-04:002011-04-21T20:33:32.993-04:00Hey Steve, I reside in Reading, a City-Suburb of C...Hey Steve, I reside in Reading, a City-Suburb of Cincinnati with a principle habitat composition of concrete, asphalt, brick and aluminum siding ;)...and yet a few days ago, at dawn, while sipping my morning coffee, I made out the silhouette of a large bird , pirched in our single tree. Low and behold, as the sun rose, a wild turkey fluttered down into my yard. I had to look twice and then thought ..wow ..thats a turkey..it must really be lost!:)Michael Bartneckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00274980237298207404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629602865933201771.post-64965991519743621062011-04-17T21:01:31.754-04:002011-04-17T21:01:31.754-04:00Hi, grammie g. With the average lifespan continually creeping up, it's hard telling what we'll eventually look like.

Hi, Lois. Given the rate at which the turkey population is expanding, I wouldn't be surprised if Wild Turkeys were an urban yard bird in another 30 years.

Hi, Rebecca. I guess any sexually dimorphic species is liable to have individuals that cross the line. It's just interesting to see it when it happens.Steve Willsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02098584432333519732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629602865933201771.post-22020103243864053422011-04-17T19:55:48.935-04:002011-04-17T19:55:48.935-04:00Very interesting indeed! One occasionally hears about does with antlers, and it's fairly common for female mallards to develop some green head feathers when they get older.rebeccahttp://rebeccainthewoods.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629602865933201771.post-31253058796283724982011-04-17T11:20:49.948-04:002011-04-17T11:20:49.948-04:00Very interesting.
